Sports Turf Co. introduces new track technology

May 3, 2019

Sports Turf Co., a sports facility construction and specialty surfacing company, is a sponsor of the Georgia High School Association 5A and 6A boys & Girls State Track Championships. Specializing in different types of sports surfaces, Sports Turf installs natural grass and artificial turf football, baseball, soccer fields and more, as well as tennis courts and track surfaces.

Sports Track Co., a division of Sports Turf, will unveil the latest in technology enhancements by demonstrating the Rekortan Smart training system on Thursday, May 9, at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Ga.

“We are proud to support high school coaches and athletes from across the state,” said Todd Wiggins, president of Sports Turf. “In track and field competitions, hundredths of a second can make the difference between winning and losing. This technology, exclusively offered by Sports Track Co., helps young athletes train smarter, which leads to better opportunities for success in competition.”

Rekortan Smart is the world’s first intelligent running track and provides athletes and coaches with the perfect solution for increasing effectiveness and efficiency during training, the company reported. The system is a sophisticated training tool that utilizes sets of magnetic “gates” and built-in recording systems to log performance insights such as running and interval times, distance, step frequency, step length and step quality. In addition, multiple athletes can train at the same time. Plus, there is no setup or dismantling required for the durable, weather-resistant system, the company said.

During the statewide meet, Sports Turf will be offering a special promotion program. If a school decides to resurface its track with the company’s Rekortan G10 or G13 system within 12 months from the meet, it will receive the Rekortan Smart basic system. During the event, Sports Turf will make a $500 donation to a participating high school’s track program, drawn at random from among all coaches who register here.
